Medicare Open Enrollment is October 15, 2021 – December 7,2021.
Medicare providers often make yearly changes to cost and coverage. This data will be available starting in October of this year. During the Annual Open Enrollment period, Medicare beneficiaries can meet with a Lancaster County certified volunteer counselor for a free, confidential, and unbiased review of their plan and changes available to them. If you have Medicare, you should do the following:
- Check your mail for important notices from Medicare or Social Security. Note any changes to your health coverage or Extra Help you may get to pay for prescription drugs.
- Think about your Medicare coverage needs for 2022. Carefully review your Medicare coverage materials. Note any changes from 2021 costs or benefits. Decide if your current Medicare coverage will meet your needs for the year ahead. If you like your current coverage and it is still available for 2022, you don’t need to take any action.
- Get personalized help in your community. Contact Lancaster County Office of Aging to answer questions about Medicare, Medicaid, and related health insurance. What YOU can CHANGE during Open Enrollment if you have Medicare:
Medicare Advantage Plans and Part D Prescription Drug Plans are allowed to change amounts of their deductibles, co-pays, out of pocket expenses and drug formularies each year. Changes made during Open Enrollment will go into effect January 1, 2022, so you can switch these plans. Call for an appointment.
New to Medicare? If you are NEW to Medicare, you can also meet with a counselor for an introduction to Medicare or to get info about enrolling in supplementary or GAP plans, and a prescription drug plan.
